Tax Preparation Assistance


Tax-Aide provides free income tax preparation and free Federal and State e-filing for low to moderate income taxpayers of any age. 

What to Bring: Social Security Card (and your children's), State Issued Picture ID, 2016 income tax return, and all of your 2017 tax documents (W2's, 1099's, ect.).

All tax preparers are IRS Certified.

Tax preparation sites are open from February 1st through April 14th in Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Athol and Kellogg.   

Last Year, Tax-Aide volunteers prepared and e-filed more than 5000 returns for North Idaho residents.

For Volunteers

Training for Tax Preparers begins in January at the Silver Lake Mall. The classroom is located between Macy's and the popcorn shop across from JOANN Fabrics. 

Training for New Volunteers:

     9 AM to 4 PM: January 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, and 15 or

     6 PM to 9 PM: January 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, and 19.

Training for Experienced Volunteers:   

     9 AM to 4 PM: January 4, 9,11, and 16.

Firehose Class (open to all with tax training or experience)

     9 AM to 4 PM: January 6, 13, and 20.

Bring your training materials to class on the first day. Computers will be provided. 

Tax prep sites open for the public on February 1st at 9 AM.
