Spring Dash

Spring Dash is now a VIRTUAL RACE!

April 18-30, 2020

Since 1982, Spring Dash has been the kickoff to the running season. However, we are unchartered waters for the 38th Annual run. Following the recommendations by the CDC and Panhandle health District, UWNI has decided hosting Spring Dash in its traditional manner would not be in the best interest of participants, volunteers, and guests.

Virtual Race. However, we will be moving forward with Spring Dash as a Virtual Race! Anyone will be able to participate in Spring Dash, regardless of when and where you would like to walk or run the five miles. In these unprecendented times of isolation, it is important that we all take care of ourselves physically and mentally. What better way than to get outside!

Why Register? All Spring Dash participants will receive a bib and the popular custom designed t-shirt. Yes, we are still having a high-school t-shirt design contest! Deadline for entries is Wednesday, March 25. But most importantly, your entry fee will help support local families in need. All proceeds will go to the Coeur d’Alene Coronavirus Relief Fund, created to help our most vulnerable populations affected by COVID-19. For more information, visit www.UnitedWayofNorthIdaho.org/coronavirus-relief-fund

How it will work.

  • Registered participants can download the RaceJoy app and select Spring Dash. When you are ready to “participate” in the run/walk, tap start and let the app record your progress. You can run/walk any five-mile route you’d like.
  • Use your own timing method (even including a treadmill) and submit the results via RunSignUp or send them to us and we’ll post them for you (SpringDash@UWnorthidaho.org).
  • If you don’t need your time recorded and just want to support the cause, you can also simply post on the Spring Dash Facebook page that you participated.

When. Whenever you’d like! RaceJoy app recordings will be active April 18 through April 30. You are able to post your time online to share your support. AND, if you message us (FB, email, call), we will upload it in the system for you!

Already registered. If you are already registered, there are a couple steps to take to convert your participation to virtual: Step 1: Log in to RunSignup and select "Manage Registration" for Spring Dash. Step 2: Virtual race will show up as a management option; choose to enable text or email results, or submit them directly from the site.

Alternative Options. We will do our best to ensure those who prefer not to participate in the virtual race have options available. Due to the current situation in our community, you can support the CDA Coronavirus Relief Fund by converting your registration fee to a donation (tax ID# 82-0232729). If you would prefer not to participate virtually or make a donation, refunds will be made through RunSignUp. UWNI will not keep any fees, but RunSignUp and your credit card company fees may be applied.

Packet Pickup. Registered participants will receive a t-shirt, bib, and other sponsor goodies, but packet pickup will be a little different this year. We will have drive-through packet pickup and everyone who registers will get a shirt! Details on time and location will be sent to registered participants.

If you have any questions, please email SpringDash@UWnorthidaho.org. We hope you'll join in on the (virtual) fun of this great community tradition!
