What is the United Way Community Care Fund?
United Way is committed to creating lasting change with measurable improvements for people in North Idaho. As a convener, collaborator, and catalyst for change our vision is to create a thriving community where adults and children have access to education, financial stability, and good health, which are the building blocks to self-sufficiency and a high quality of life.
As part of that commitment, United Way of North Idaho invests in high-performing programs and services that align with our strategic priorities in two ways:
Direct targeted investments, and
Community Care Fund grants
The Community Care Fund is donor-designated funds directed toward quality local programs that benefit communities in the five counties we serve. Funding is granted to partner nonprofit organizations through a competitive application process.
Grants will be awarded for a period of one year, with the possibility of an additional year renewal
Agencies seeking funding may apply to either the Spring or Fall cycle
Funding may be requested for programs in any of the five counties we serve (Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai, and Shoshone counties)
Grant funding may be used for operational, administrative, staffing, and supply expenses to support the program. In general, grant amounts range from $2,500 to $10,000
Organizations that are awarded grants will be required to submit an interim six-month progress report and a year-end report on program outcomes
Programs must align with one of 14 investment priorities:
